Kinetic Apple No.2
Abstract
Kinetic Apple No.2 is an expanded animation project that investigates the integration of touch into the animated experience. Developed through practice-based research, the work features a custom-built haptic device powered by Arduino and 32 servo motors, which drive 416 handcrafted balsa wood pins. Sound recordings from everyday activities were translated into 2D animation and then converted into motor data to generate tactile motion. By transforming auditory and visual elements into a touchable surface, this work explores new forms of embodied animation, offering a multisensory approach that challenges the dominance of vision in animated media.
