Abstract

Perang Tupat is a board game about a unique tradition in Tempilang Village, Bangka Belitung, Indonesia, that has been implemented since 1800 and is passed down through generations. Perang Tupat itself is named after the original tradition, called Perang Ketupat, where a ketupat is used as a tool for war. This tradition is not a real war, it is a practice to strengthen relationships before the month of Ramadan. The Perang Ketupat tradition carries the meaning of unity, togetherness, awareness, mutual cooperation, and is believed to bring happiness among all social classes.
