Perempuan dalam Bingkai Patriarki: Kajian Budaya Visual dan Teori Male Gaze pada Film Exhuma (2024)
Abstract
The film Exhuma (2024) presents a mystical narrative and visual Korean horror that not only carries a supernatural theme, but also contains the construction of gender myths that represent female stereotypes in a patriarchal culture. This article analyzes how feminist myths are visually displayed in several key scenes in the film, including seating positions on airplanes, grave-digging rituals, and the characterization of the main female character as passive and submissive to male characters. Using Roland Barthes' myth theory and visual culture as an approach, this paper analyzes how the representation of women in the film shapes and reproduces traditional feminine myths such as purity, powerlessness, and dependence on men. The method used is visual semiotic analysis with data in the form of film scene clips. The results show that Exhuma indirectly maintains the narrative of patriarchal myths in a mystical culture.
